Menacing Weather

Gotta love the choice of word here, “Menacing Weather for Southern Ontario”. Tomorrow will be an interesting day indeed.

Speaking of menace, the entire University of Guelph is holding their breathe at the moment. I’ve been notified through work since January that shadows of possible strikes are going on. Yes, strikes, as in plural. As of today, CUPE 1334, the union that represents 260 trades, custodial and maintenance workers on campus was suppose to decide if they’re in a strike position… so far I’ve heard nothing yet, but it’s only been an hour since 12:00am hit… If so, there will be no snow removal, and no garbage pickup.

As if this isn’t already crazy enough, the new union on campus, the UGFA, University of Guelph Faculty Association, might just be going on strike as of this Wednesday, March 14… which means no more classes, except with sessional staffs, well, this also mean push back of classes and of course, exams, and end of term, etc. It’s a mess.

It’ll be interesting to see how the next few days will play out. In case you’re wondering, I never really did blog about the strike issues despite knowing it a long time ago. I feel quite indifferent about this issue, and I’m sure both sides have good reasons to lay out their terms. It’s just unfortunate that students are the ones getting caught in the middle.

Here’s to hoping for a smooth storm, an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one.

Oh, and hello from Peterborough ON! Here to celebrate Winnie’s Birthday, having some Sake at the moment! Good night, internetz friendz.
